Commitment to Lessons and Notice to Stop Lessons
When you start lessons your commitment is until the end of the current school term.
Term 1: Mon 2 Sep - Sat 21 Dec 2024
Term 2: Mon 6 Jan - Sat 5 Apr 2025
Term 3: Tue 22 Apr - Tue 22 Jul 2025
Excluding half terms and INSET days.
The full lesson calendar is on our website.
If you wish to stop your lessons you need to inform us a month before the start of the next term. The Notice Dates are shown on the calendar. They are: 7th Dec 2024, 22 Mar 2025 and 26 July 2025.
New Students
If you are a new student, you can opt to book a one-off trial lesson before you commit until the end of the term. You will be asked to make a one-off payment in advance of your lesson. We will send you an invoice via email and you can pay this by card or bank transfer.
Sometimes we are able to offer a free trial lesson in a group, if there is a suitable group available at the appropriate age and level. Please ask for more details.
Payment of Lesson Fees
Payment for students taking regular weekly lessons is collected in advance on the 1st of each month by Direct Debit through GoCardless. The first payment will be for five weeks’ worth of lessons, and the remaining fees will be divided into ten equal instalments ending with 1st July. There is no payment on 1st August. All Bill Payers need to complete the Direct Debit Mandate form prior to commencement of regular lessons.
If you start lessons part-way through a month, we will request a one-off payment via GoCardless to cover the cost of lessons until the end of that month, and then you would go onto monthly direct debit payments in the same method as above, finishing on 1st July. If we are notified that a Direct Debit payment has failed, lessons may be put on hold and we will contact you as soon as possible to resolve the situation.
Cancellations/ Missed Lessons
When the school cancels our lessons:
Sometimes, due to events outside of our control, lessons in the school will have to be cancelled - e.g. if the school notifies us in advance of a special event, sports day, exams, trip etc. Occasionally it is possible to move lessons around within the school day, or request the tutor to make a visit to the school on an alternative day that week (depending on how many students are affected), or to offer a double lesson the following week.
But if none of these are possible, we will make a note that you are owed a lesson and make it up as soon as possible at a later date.
If your child is ill/ off school:
Students having 1:1 lessons can ask for lessons to be rescheduled with two working days' notice or with a doctor's note. We will make a note that you are owed a lesson and make it up as soon as possible.
Missed group lessons cannot be rescheduled, because of the other students in the group, and the lesson would be charged regardless. However with a doctor's note we would offer a refund for that lesson.
Please note we may need to reschedule your missed lesson with a different tutor.
If the tutor cannot attend due to illness/ unforeseen circumstances:
We may either send a substitute tutor or reschedule the lesson.
If a lesson cannot be rescheduled:
If we reach the end of the academic year, and we haven’t been able to reschedule any missed lessons, we would either make a refund or carry over a credit to the following year.
If the student were to stop their lessons at the end of Term 1 or Term 2, we would offer a refund.
Groups
We reserve the right to add compatible students to existing groups where there is space in the class. If a student in a group of two leaves after Term 1 or Term 2, and the group therefore becomes an individual student, we will try to find suitable replacements. If no one can be found, the lesson will have to change to an individual rate. We may also need to find a different time for the individual lesson.
Absence/ Lateness On the Day
If your child is going to be absent/ late for their lesson, please inform the admin staff so we can let the tutor know. Our telephone number is 01732 350629. Our office is open 9.30am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday. There is a voicemail facility out of office hours. You can also email [email protected].
We send our lesson timetables every week to the school, our tutors liaise with school staff to organise children attending their music lessons, and every effort is made to find/ collect children for their lessons. If this is not possible or the child cannot be located or is late for their lesson, unfortunately the lesson will still have to be charged as the tutor’s time is booked in advance and they were available to teach at that time.
Changes to your lessons
All requests for permanent changes to the day/ time of your lessons must be made to us four weeks before the term commences (see the term dates calendar). If you request any changes after the deadline, it will need to wait until the following term.
Occasionally a tutor leaves us (due to relocation/ personal circumstances etc) and we will need to allocate you to another suitable tutor. All our tutors are carefully vetted by us, DBS checked and familiar with the Trinity Rock and Pop Syllabus.
Finally
Any decision concerning tuition made by MusicStation shall be final and we reserve the right to alter the conditions with prior notice. We hope you find these Terms and Conditions reasonable and fair. Our commitment to you is to provide excellent musical education at a competitive price. If we need to increase our tuition fees we will give you notice of this.
